Activities During the Year 2010-11
Educational Programs
A Special coaching program to the needy students on core subjects of speech and hearing of the Institute was started. Our student volunteers carried out this program 1 hour everyday. This is an ongoing program during every academic year. More than 20 volunteers are benefited with this program.

A Lecture on 'Tips to prepare for and write in exams' was organized on 11.11.10. This was done just before the exams of Bachelors students. Four gold medal winners of last two academic years were invited to deliver the lecture and give tips to the students. 138 students participated in the programme and made it successful.

Pamphlet distribution on 'Dos and donts while celebrating Diwali' was conducted on 04.11.10. Few days before Diwali festival, it was duty of speech and hearing NSS volunteers to educate the public on the hazardous effects of noise. Hence, pamphlet distribution on dos and donts while celebrating Diwali was done. Nearly 3000 pamphlets were distributed in the heart of the city. Pamphlets were prepared by the staff of Department of Prevention of Communication Disorders, AIISH.

'Noise awareness rally' was conducted on the 30th April, 2011. Nearly 120 students walked in the major streets of Mysore holding banner, placard and balloons educating the public about hazardous effects of noise pollution, measures to prevent and rehabilitation.

Shramdaan Activities
31.10.10 - Cleaning activity was conducted in the steps for Chamundi Hills. The premises were made plastic-free and the public was educated on the same. This programme was well appreciated by the public who visited chamundi on that day.

13.11.10 - Teak-wood saplings were planted in front of the canteen, AIISH. On the same day, pit holes for the plantation of fruit tree saplings were made behind the Academic block, Mysore.

20.11.10 - Plantation of saplings of fruit trees was done behind the academic block. On the same day, premises around the academic block and library was cleaned.

26.11.10. - The staff of blood bank, K.R. Hospital, Mysore collected the blood donated by the 47 volunteers. The programme was inaugurated by the Director, AIISH.

27.11.10 - NSS volunteers volunteered to make boundaries and pick the stones in the newly made cricket ground in AIISH gymkhana, Panchavati campus.

04.12.10 - Cleaning up of the store rooms of Dept. of Audiology, AIISH, the proposed future NSS room.

08.01.11 - No plastic walk was conducted. The volunteers cleared up all the plastic in the major and small streets of Ramakrishnanagar and educated the public meanwhile.

15.01.11 - No plastic walk was conducted. The volunteers cleared up all the plastic in the university premises, in stretch of about 5 kms and educated the public meanwhile.

22.01.11 - No plastic walk was conducted in the Bogadi road till the Bogadi park. The park was cleaned by cutting the grass and weeds.

05.02.11 - The area within the AIISH premises was cleaned by cutting the grass and weeds. in front of the Library and academic block.

12.02.11 - Students made paper bags out of the waste news paper and suthali thread. 54 bags were prepared with slogans to avoid plastic written on that. These bags were to be sold to the staff and students of AIISH and any other interested people.

20.02.11 - Students made paper bags out of the waste news paper and suthali thread. 62 bags were prepared with slogans to avoid plastic written on that. These bags were to be sold to the staff and students of AIISH and any other interested people.

12.03.11 - The extra branches of the teak trees were cut. Paathis were made for each tree and watered the plants

19.03.11 - Paathis were made for all the nearly 80 plants in the AIISH and Panchavati campus. All the plants were watered.

Health Programs/Sports
Inter-group cricket competition was organized for NSS volunteers on 5th and 6th of February, 2010. 44 volunteers played the game and the others witnessed it. Group Vayu won the first prize.
The unit also conducted inter-group cricket competition.

Adventure Activities
A two-day trekking program at Kotachadri, Shivamogga is planned between 09.04.11 and 10.04.11 conducted on 13th & 14th 2010 in which 60 members including 4 staff were participated.

Literary & Art Activities
Rakshita Gokul of I year BASLP has written an article on 'Need for avoiding plastic use'. The article is being edited and shall be published in newspapers.

Cultural Activities
A handwriting competition was conducted on 20th April 2011. The participants had either write in the left hand or write the non-native language in the competition.

Valedictory Function
Valedictory function was conducted on 05.05.11 in the seminar Hall. The activities conducted in the academic year was briefed to the gathering. Ms. Lakshmi and Mr. Shreyank were awarded the best Volunteers of the year.
