Right to Information Act 2005
Who can apply?

All Indian citizens, who desires to obtain information under this Act. But, the act does not apply to the states of Jammu & Kashmir.

What is information?

Any document, memo, sample, etc.

What is Right to Information?
There are four types of information as follows:
(a) Inspection of documents
(b) Noting and getting certified copies of information
(c) Obtaining samples
(d) Obtaining information through electronic mode.

How to apply?

Information can be obtained through publications and or application. They shall make a request in writing on the application form which is available at the Cash counter, AIISH.

Application fee

A fee of Rs. 10/- by way of cash, DD or bankers cheque has to be paid for each application.

Whom to send the application?

Filled in application should be sent / given to Mr. Freddy Antony, Asst. Lecturer in Clinical Psychology , AIISH, Manasagangothri, Mysore – 6.

What are the information charges?

Rs. 2/- for each page (A4 or A3 size). In case of large size paper, actual will be charged.
For information in Diskette or floppy (if information is available in this form) an amount of Rs. 50/- per Diskette or floppy will be charged.

Inspection of Records

There will be no fee for first one hour. An amount of Rs. 5/- for each 15 minutes thereafter will be charged.

What is the time limit?

Time limit for supply of information is 30 days from the date the CPIO receives the request. The period intervening between the dispatch of the intimation and payment of fees will be excluded from this.

It is 48 hours if information concerns life or liberty of a person.

If no reply or information is received within the stipulated time, it is presumed to have been rejected.

How to appeal?

Any person, who does not receive a decision within the specified time, or is aggrieved by a decision of the CPIO, may within 30 days from the expiry of such period or from the receipt of such a decision may appear to the higher authority. The first appellant will be Dr. K. S. Prema, Professor of Speech Language Pathology, AIISH, Mysore.

A second appeal against the decision can be made within 90 days from the date on which decision should have been made by the first appellant authority to the Central Information Commission, Block No. 4 (5th Floor), Old JNU Complex, New Delhi – 110 067.

Jurisdiction of Courts

As per section 225 and 32 of Indian Constitution, only High courts and Supreme Courts have authority over Right to Information Act 2005.
