RULES & REGULATIONS

The structure and functioning of 'Guest House' at All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Manasagangotri, Mysore: 570 006, is governed by the following rules and regulations:

  1. STRUCTURE

    The AIISH Guest House is located in a separate building within the sprawling campus. It houses a eight rooms including two VIP suites, four air conditioned rooms, two non air conditioned rooms, dining hall, cellar, kitchen, foyer, an attic, store, servants quarter, etc. It is surrounded by well kept lush green lawns. Each room is carpeted, provided with cable television, geyser, computer, fans, full time internet services, intercom, attached bath rooms, essential furniture, bedded cots, clothes hangers, insect repellants, pillows, bath mugs, buckets, soap and toilet items, etc. The VIP suites have additional facility of a refrigerator. Depending on the status of the visitor, additional and temporary facilities are provided and later withdrawn after their departure. These facilities include: breakfast, bed-tea/coffee on request; candles & match boxes, desk display of fruit juices, snacks and savories, door & bath mats, draw sheets, hand towels, bath towels & extra bed spreads; emergency lights; electric kettles, tea/coffee sachets, sugar cubes, micro wave oven, morning/evening newspaper; napkins & tissue papers; placement of flower vase/bouquet, provision for bottled drinking water, telephone with STD facilities, toilet & room freshners, tooth brush & tooth paste, hand held torches, umbrellas, etc. The actual nature and extent of these facilities offered varies according to the status of the visitors in the VIP suites.

  2. TARIFF

    The following is the prevailing tariff for official and non-official members per 24-hour cycle counted as a day. Each nights stay is counted as equal for tariff collection for a day. However, more than 12 hour schedule of stay within even during a day is treated as one day and charged thereof.

    For non-official visitors of the Institute

    Wherever applicable, the calculated tariff is collected in advance, receipted into the appropriate heads of account of the Institute, before the allotment of the rooms into the guest house. In case of visitors being accommodated on holidays, the said amount collected in advance, is retained by the In-charge and/or assistant before depositing the same in general cash section of the Institute on the next working day. Under any circumstances, no concession or rebate is permitted in the prevailing rates of tariff.

    Receipted payments are generally disallowed cancellations and refund. However, in genuine cases, and upon due written request from the guest, the In-charge and/or assistant may forward the application for final approval from the Director, AIISH, for such claims for refund. The Director reserves the sole right to sanction, deny, disallow or allow-in part or full, any request for refund despite recommendation from the In-charge and/or assistant with or without assigning reasons thereof.

  3. RIGHTS OF ADMISSION

    The rights for admission for occupants into the AIISH Guest House are reserved. Preference in occupancy and allotment is given to official guests on government duties, followed by requests from foreign delegates, international visitors, VVIP guests like Central and State Ministers, senior government officials, university officials, external examiners, and the like. In second preference, subject to availability, the non-VIP rooms are allocated to parents of students, cases or patients and their relatives, or their children too. The tariff for various categories of official and non-official guests is different. The Director reserves the right to give or withdraw permission for allotment of the facility to any or all persons with or without assigning any reasons thereof.

  4. STAFF

    While the overall functioning of the AIISH Guest House is coordinated by the In-Charge and Guest House Assistant In-Charge; the routine repairs or maintenance is looked after by General Maintenance Section of the Institute. Among other things, the duties and functions of the In-charge and/or Assistant include:

    • Allotment of rooms;
    • Collection and deposit of tariff under respective heads of account in the Institute;
    • Compilation and submission of monthly report on room allotments, occupancy and collection of monies;
    • Certification of completed works required or undertaken, bills of expenditure and/or claims for refund;
    • Authorizing entry or exit of visitors;
    • Monitoring attendance of class four employees and contract cleaning staff posted for duties during day hours;
    • Maintaining books, forms, files and registers related to routine administration;
    • Indenting requirements of consumables and non consumables;
    • Answering liaison enquiries on or about details on the guest house

    The duties and functions of the Maintenance Section include

    • Responding to calls for repair or routine check ups of the plumbing, sanitation, water supplies, electrical and civic amenities in the guest house;
    • Periodic check of computer peripherals, internet connections, LAN, intercom, etc.

  5. PROTOCOL & ETIQUETTE

    The visitors are allotted rooms in the AIISH Guest House under the assumption that the facility is being used with the best of civil intentions and hence responsible or decent conduct. Under no circumstances, the premises are to be used for uncivil conduct or activities that may bring down the reputation of government property. Defacing the property of the facility is prohibited. The facility, as is the whole Institute, prides in declaring itself as 'smoke free zone'. The users are always welcome to air their grievances or complaints in right earnest.
